Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 15, 2026
These terms apply to every booking with Dante's Watersports & Tours ("Dante's", "we", "us") in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, and to use of this website. By booking or joining an activity you accept them on behalf of yourself and everyone in your group.
1. Bookings and prices
Prices are shown in US dollars per person and, unless stated otherwise, are subject to 13% Costa Rican sales tax. A booking is confirmed once we confirm it in writing (email or WhatsApp). The person booking must be at least 18 and is responsible for sharing these terms with their group.
2. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations, refunds and National Park ticket rules are set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
3. Weather and safety cancellations
Ocean, river and weather conditions change quickly in the tropics. Our guides may delay, modify, shorten or cancel any activity — including on the day and mid-activity — if they judge conditions unsafe (for example high surf, strong currents, lightning, flooding or park closures). In that case we will offer to reschedule or refund the affected portion as described in the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Rain alone is not normally a reason to cancel. Closures ordered by authorities such as SINAC are outside our control.
4. Age, health and fitness requirements
- Minors must be accompanied by, and have the participation agreement signed by, a parent or legal guardian.
- Minimum ages and fitness levels vary by activity; please ask before booking for young children.
- Water activities require that guests are comfortable in the water. Tell us in advance about any medical condition, pregnancy, injury, heart or respiratory condition, recent surgery or medication that could affect your safety.
- Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate, without refund.
- You must follow guide instructions, wear provided safety equipment (such as life jackets) when instructed, and respect park rules.
5. Assumption of risk
Surfing, kayaking, boat trips, swimming, hiking to waterfalls and walking in the rainforest carry inherent risks that cannot be fully eliminated, even with experienced guides. These include, among others: waves, currents, rip tides and changing tides; collisions with boards, kayaks, rocks, reefs or other people; drowning or near-drowning; slips and falls on wet or uneven terrain; sun exposure, heat and dehydration; insects, marine life and wild animals; and delays in reaching medical care in remote areas. By participating you confirm that you understand these risks and voluntarily accept them.
6. Release and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Costa Rican law, you release Dante's, its owners, guides, staff and partners from liability for injury, illness, loss or damage arising from the inherent risks of the activities described above, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, including consumer rights under Costa Rica's Law 7472. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the price you paid for the affected activity. Guests may be asked to sign a written participation and release form before the activity.
7. Personal belongings
We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal items, including phones, cameras, jewellery and sunglasses, brought on activities. Bring only what you need.
8. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers adventure activities, medical expenses and trip cancellation.
9. Photos
Guides may take photos during activities. Let us know if you prefer not to appear on our website or social media.
10. Website use
Website content, photos and text belong to Dante's or are used with permission and may not be copied without consent. We try to keep information accurate, but prices and schedules may change until confirmed in writing.
11. Privacy
Your personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of Costa Rica, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
